Joh-Doh's BIKE GOT STOLEN

my bike of 4 year got stolen this morning. Its a 49cm road bike with gears. its a turquoise and white schwinn traveler with an orange fork. its got fat 35 tires, duct tape on the seat, no toe clips, black seat post, and handlebars wrapped in intertube. the front wheel is black. the bike is also super beat up looking, the frames scuffed up, the seat is torn, etc.

if you've been to kraynick's bike shop and seen the small turquoise and white frames on the wall he has for sale, thats it. just with way more miles on it.

Man. How did you have this thing locked up? Doesn't sound like it's worth stealing!

it wasn't locked up because my porch is 3 stories up, and people have been leaving their bikes unlocked on that porch for like 5 or 6 years and nothings ever been taken off it. also, i was right next to it. someone was acting really boldly or really foolishly. Either way, they got away with it.

And don't be fooled, the bike had nice components and was built really solid. I intentionally kept it looking pretty rough to detour thieves.

However due to the nature of the crime, I don't think the person cared what the bike looked like. I've omitted many of the details of the story.

In addition to my bike being stolen, my friend's bike, which was locked with a cable to the stairway railing on the ground, was also messed with. The railing it was locked too was smashed up and the wheels of his bike were removed, but not stolen. I'm guessing someone was going all out to get his bike, noticed that mine was unlocked a few stories up, and after having gone through all the trouble to steal his bike, just walked up the stairs and took mine.
