make boston bicycle-free

Now here's a real winner.

Because we all know the roads in Boston were made for cars. Man this guy is stupid.

There is the possibility, given the tone, that he was being satirical or ironic. Or, perhaps thought that he was writing satire and merely failed at it miserably. In either case, the the autodominionists come out of the woodwork to say "Hells, yea! Finally someone who believes as we do. Run those lycra-clad punks over!" and the cyclists rally to say "Hatters gonna hate" and call for his ouster, Brian McGrory will, no doubt, come forward and say "I was just joking."

Funny. I was thinking they should do the opposite.

Shout out to my favorite ride?

From the article: These cyclists are more than welcome in the suburbs, riding in flocks along uncluttered roads

Yay, Flock!

Gotta love it. Misinformed.

Re-reading it, I think satire/irony is the intent, but as often happens, that isn't what's going to happen here. Tony Kornheiser and Mike Pintek, I'm looking at you. This is merely the print version of that sort of stupidity.

How to counter this? I'm sure there are plenty of Boston cyclists who will jump on this, but how do we do that here? Never mind the haters; there's no changing their minds. It's the swayables I'm worried about, the family members and co-workers across the table from the idiots who take this seriously who don't have the info or the guts to stand up to this. Figure out how to get to them and convince them that Flock Of Cycles-like riders are the ones to emulate, that we have all but shut down Critical Mass in Pittsburgh.

We will still have malcontents and the aloof cyclist riding down Route 19 southbound at night with no lights ... (check P-G Letters today)

So... we must always be humble yet counter with motoring hazards.

@ Kordite - I may have told you before, but I think your word "autodominionist" is so great.
