Soma frames

I'm thinking of getting a Soma frame (the Smoothie, to be specific), but there don't appear to be any dealers in the area. Anyone have any experience with Soma, and if any of the local shops can order them?

Soma is distributed/owned by Merry Sales, most shops should be able to order from them.

The Smoothie looks like an awesome bike, I've been close to buying on a few times.

Iron City in Oakland for sure has a Merry Sales account.

i have a smoothie! i got it from iron city, but it was a special order. BEWARE! white frame gets gross looking really fast!

yeah, I don't think white would be my first choice, but that's the color they've got, and I think I've sold myself on the look of a white bike with all black components. Does it get gross from normal fair weather riding, or is it from riding in rain and muck?

Do you like the smoothie otherwise? May I ask how tall you are and what size you went with? Did Iron City help you figure out the right frame size? It's always a little scary buying a bike that you can't ride first.

although the frame has eyelets, the clearance for fenders is practically non-existent. i just put on a rear mudguard. you are also very limited tire-wise. i currently have the detonators they are not my fav, i get flats very often. disclaimer: boyfriend used to have detonators and he loved them.

it gets dirty from normal-ish wear, but obviously gets more dirty if i ride in the rain/right after a rain.

i do really like the smoothie. my old bike was a low-mid end touring bike, so this is way faster and lighter. i am 5'6 and i got a 52. it fits great and the standover clearance is fab! ive ridden bikes where i really have to hoist my leg over the top tube to get on/off, but the way the geometry goes i can easily manever on/off.

steve k and boyfriend helped me figure out the size. i ordered it in the fall last year so sizes were few and far between. my old bike was a 52 and as soon as i heard they had that size back in stock i jumped on it. i could have gone with the 54, but i think it fits me fine.

if it helps, i was between a smoothie and a pacer.

The Smoothie ES, now known as just the ES, has much more tire/fender clearance.
