ugh, these fights are why I finally quit contributing to wikipedia. You spend more time arguing about the increasingly complex administrative rules than actually creating content.

Given the policies those who want to delete the article cite (WP:ONEEVENT and WP:NOTNEWS) it might make more sense to create an article about the event. The Kish information in the current article could be included along with information about Lin (he had a compelling life story and might deserve some internet recognition anyway), and maybe some background on cyclist/driver relations in pittsburgh if you can find sources that meet the verifiability guideline. Good luck.

I think we'd be better served and you'd project more thoughtful intentions if you started a wiki for Lin instead.

I agree with the editor:

"What sources exist don't contain any substance at all from which a biographical article documenting this person's life and works can be constructed. This is a coatrack article for speculation, rumour, and accusations."

I also don't think it's proper to have an article that one-sidedly demonizes this man when the exact circumstances and fault of the accident aren't known.

I never contribute to wiki's because they confuse me.

I don't pity this guy at all. Although you are right in the sense that no one knows what happened in the accident, we all know what happened after. No matter who's fault it was, it is UNACCEPTABLE (not to mention illegal) to leave the scene with a man bleeding on the ground. Not to mention it took him two days to turn himself in. For that, I think this man deserves all internet thugs want to shell out.

If Timothy Kish had stayed at the scene and assisted in anyway he could, I would feel completely different about it.

i don't think this belongs on wikipedia.

nope, sorry, have to agree that it sets the wrong tone. anyone's individual feelings about the driver bailing on the scene aside, it makes us (the cycling community) look reactionary and vindictive. i think a page about lin would be much more appropriate, although i would be very careful about the language used to describe Kish and his actions still.

The vocal opponents of cycling already think we are a bunch of self-absorbed asshats, why add fuel to that fire?

Delete. Doesn't belong on there. Not fair to those involved, for one thing.

A Lin page would still violate WP:ONEEVENT. If you want an article on this subject to remain on wikipedia, it's got to be an entry about the hit and run itself. That entry can and should include well-sourced, verifiable biographical information about both Kish and Lin.

I'm still not sure how I feel about it. i can definitely see both side of it.
