in philadelphia they have “blue lanes”. when a bike lane approaches an intersection with a right hand turn only lane, the blue lane guides the bicyclist across it and toward a straight only bike lane where he can stop at the light. generally, i think its a good idea. i noticed while biking around philly that some intersections have two markings for right hand turn only lanes, one before and one after the blue lane. however, that redundant marking makes me feel more trapped and more nervous.
