I went by a month ago and the stones hadn’t been replaced and it was pretty overgrown with weeds. Dirty dozen is only 100 days away.

I brought this up to councilwoman Rudiak back in the spring. She was aware of the DD bike race and how important it was to the bike community that the road be repaired with block not asphalt. She has been very pro-bike and even came to ride-of-silence, so I’m sure this can get resolved.

It might be time to remind her office that the issue hasnt been resolved yet. http://pittsburghpa.gov/district4/

Edit: including a recent photo would probably help

Canton Avenue was originally made in the 60’s or 70’s and was a paved street. It was later turned into a Belgian block street because cars had trouble traversing it. This info came from a co-worker who grew up in the neighborhood. Hopefully they do fix it correctly.

FYI … the repairs to Canton have been complete for at least a couple weeks now. The left side that was overgrown has been cleaned out and the warped blocks in the middle have been re-laid. Should be a little easier path to the top this year!

Dammit. I was hoping for some added difficulty this year! But really, it is a good thing it has been repaired.

Was in the area today, so took a pic of the work done on Canton Ave. It looks really well done!
