... and for the tall bike...

....

ndromb
2010-08-13 05:10:03

i have lights but not as impressive as yours.

stefb
2010-08-13 11:04:20

Wait til you see what Rob, myself and others cooked up for our rides. Let's just say that my bike might be lit up to a dangerous degree. Haha.

msprout
2010-08-13 12:14:14

Will we have working music this time?

chrsjxn
2010-08-13 13:33:19

+1 Boring Blinkies only. I think I have light envy.

2010-08-13 15:59:56

i'm going to have all my mtb lights and whatever blinkies stef doesn't use. it might not look as flashy, but i will blind people if i point my bike and helmet directly at them. possibly in a permanent manner (that handlebar light stef had on the last night ride is not my bright light).

Speed and hill wise is this like a more typical FOC or Midnight Mass?

88ms88
2010-08-13 16:23:16

Typical FOC. Basically just FOC - at night.

Looks like a barber pole and a pretzel got really drunk one night.

reddan
2010-08-13 17:27:27

Sort of like that M&M commercial.

robjdlc
2010-08-13 17:29:29

From last night, educating Greg on electricity:

Here's a preview of the setup I can only call 'the Lighthouse of Alexandria.'

msprout
2010-08-13 19:04:07

I want to see what Rob has come up with...

ndromb
2010-08-13 19:23:17

Just to be clear- what are the meeting and departing times?

stefb
2010-08-13 20:12:06

I expect a guy with an auto fetish supply store to put a neon ground effects kit on his high-rider.

lyle
2010-08-13 20:34:22

Meet at 10, roll out by 1030.

Lyle - thats pretty much what I did with msprout's bike.

robjdlc
2010-08-13 21:21:01

If I'm not passed-out tired I'll try to come down for the ride today, but I don't have any lights on my bike except the standards :(

Is that ok?

bikeygirl
2010-08-13 22:00:02

i might run down to REI and get those spoke lights that people had a few weeks ago. i love those!

stefb
2010-08-13 22:23:13

Lyle, I was going to do a bunch of LEDs and CCFT's, but after putting all of the EL wire on, I wasn't spending any more time on it.

Lucia, you better be there!

Stef, do it!

ndromb
2010-08-13 23:45:27

i got them but i am not sure they'll work on my spokes

stefb
2010-08-14 00:39:01

That was a lot of flocking fun although I felt horribly under-lighted... maybe next time.

salty
2010-08-14 05:54:28

Looks like the batteries I picked up werent in the best shape. My 12v gave up maybe an hour into the ride. In hindsight, I should've just stuck to the wheels.

Maybe I'll do pac-man some time. Maybe.

robjdlc
2010-08-14 06:18:18

Anyone ever try/see these things in action?

http://www.hokeyspokes.com/

They have a buy 2 get 1 special going on now so I think I might give it a shot. They're supposed to be able to do 16 character messages which is perfect for "FLOCK OF CYCLES" (with 1 to spare, even)

salty
2010-08-14 06:32:31

FOC Lightfest: The only group bike ride visible from space?

alnilam
2010-08-14 12:34:10

I like the hokeyspokes, just could never justify the cost.

It would be cool if you could modify these to permit a longer message. Then you could team up with multiple bikes.

lyle
2010-08-14 14:21:47

it was fun last night!

i might get those hokeyspokes....

stefb
2010-08-14 15:33:11

I ordered a set, so we'll see how cool they are on the next FoC.

Maybe I'll try to rig up a stereo as well so Nick can shave some pounds off his bike... I have these powered speakers than can run on D batteries.

PS: who went back to the west end bridge party? come on, own up to it!

salty
2010-08-14 17:09:12

it was awesome. there were 400 people there, and I'm pretty sure Hillary Clinton was there grinding on some dude.

msprout
2010-08-14 17:15:23

i heard there was a slinkies reunion show too

salty
2010-08-14 17:57:43

What? There was a West End bridge party, and I missed it?

edmonds59
2010-08-14 20:12:59

i am guessing that the slinkies was a ska band. did nick say what kind of music they played?

stefb
2010-08-14 21:33:19

Yeah, Nick's buddy yelling "LONG LIVE THE SLINKIESSSSS!" Was the best thing ever, and Nick totally denying knowing that man EVER.Hahahaha.I am sad none of us decided that a party, under a bridge,"with glowsticks and bowmchickawowwow music" wasn't something worth checking out by 60 people on glowing bikes.

cpollack
2010-08-14 22:26:42

Man! Sounds like despite making it to the ride, I lost a lot of fun stuff by leaving early! Oh well..... it was a fun time and I'm glad I made it for part of it. After the long-day I had today, it was a wise decision I left early.

Until next time then!!

Also.... I hope to see some of you at the 'Zoom the Tombs' ride tomorrow at 2pm! :D

bikeygirl
2010-08-15 00:28:43

AND it was ska? I am so pissed. And sad.

edmonds59
2010-08-15 00:39:36

I honestly had no clue who that guy was.

ndromb
2010-08-15 01:33:29

i wish i was faster than nick so i could ride in front of him and yell at him to pick it up.

cburch
2010-08-15 04:17:53

Anyone posting any of the pictures?

smarti6
2010-08-15 12:51:06

There are a few on the facebooks.

robjdlc
2010-08-15 16:35:08

I can't find any FB pics, can someone tag them with FoC or FaN?

salty
2010-08-16 01:43:13

From Lucia's facebook.

robjdlc
2010-08-16 02:24:04

I got the hokey spokes today, I put my bike on the stand and pedaled it with 1 and I think it's gonna be pretty cool. Can't wait for the next night ride!

BTW, anyone have a copy of the group shot under the bridge? Is the camera's owner (Joyce, I think?) on the board?

salty
2010-08-19 05:00:57

Yeahhhh, where's that photo!?

cpollack
2010-08-19 20:41:02
