The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) is creating the draft 2015-2018 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), which identifies the region’s priority transportation projects for the next four years. The regional TIP is updated every two years in a cooperative process of local, state, and federal agencies, as well as the general public.

Drain grates with wide longitudinal slots are a danger to bicycle riders. Several have been reported through proper channels but are unfixed after 4-5 years. Many are also recessed such that hitting one would cause loss of control even if the tire did not land in the slot. Nearly all are near edge of road where cyclists ride.
