The COUNTDOWN BEGINS. Velomuse is bringing you a screening of the Life Cycles film as part of their worldwide tour – in just ONE week! We’ve decided that the Melwood Screening Room is quite appropriate for the very specific film requirements. The capacity is 130 people and we’d like to fill it with this one-time screening of the film on BluRay with surround sound in a genuine cinematic experience – so pre-sale tickets are encouraged.

“It could be argued that the mountain bike community has been long overdue for a new style of film. Without being saturated in race footage, location and rider intros, Life Cycles achieves an aesthetically powerful, subtly political documentary. Philosophical commentary on the meaningful existence of a bicycle creates a sense of time and plot development, while retaining some sweet riding footage.”

Who: Mountain Bikers, Cyclists and people who appreciate machined things juxtapose nature. All ages.

What: Life Cycles film Premier http://www.lifecyclesfilm.com/

When: Monday Dec. 20th, 2010 from 6:30-8pm

Where: Melwood Screening Room (477 Melwood, Pittsburgh, PA Directions: http://www.pghfilmmakers.org/about/melwood.html)

Why: Support local businesses, technological advances in the bicycle industry, film education, and youth programs.

How: $10 presales encouraged due to limited seating via http://www.velomuse.org or $12 at the door the day of the event only. Discounts for groups.

This takes place the same night as the message board meet up

But there will be several people attending the film and then riding to OTB for the meet-up.

Thanks for sharing that< Lolly – and everyone for their enthusiasm!

The film will start at 7pm, but the runtime is only about 45 minutes. It should only take about 10 minutes to get to OTB from there, down Craig street, left on Fifth for one Block, right on Neville to the Junction/Panther Hollow bike path and to Eliza Furnace trail. Across the Hot Metal Bridge and zig zag to OTB. We’re going to include a portion of our profits as a donation to Bike Pittsburgh, as well.

Here’s the flyer

Pittsburgh Filmmakers has several bike racks. Probably not a whole theatre’s worth, though.
