As I approaching the Forbes Avenue on-ramp on the Birmingham Bridge this morning, I slowed down to be sure there wasn’t traffic. There was, so I stopped. Then I noticed that someone apparently decided the bike lane on the ramp was actually another lane, and proceeded to drive across the bridge in the bike lane.
What’s particularly odd is that there wasn’t traffic on the bridge or the ramp, so it wasn’t out of haste/impatience that the driver took the lane. I suppose the driver was wondering why the damn lane was so tiny.
I will say it seems that the city (or county, as the case may be) painted the bike lane markings in water color, as they are barely visible at this point.
