Nothing about bicycles but there is a comment box at the end.

Funny how they reenforce the notion that it’s only speeding if you’re more that 10 over the limit.

done. mentioned my preference for mandatory retesting for all renewals, including written test covering recent changes in the law. mentioned how it’d be lovely for PennDOT to work with local municipalities to put bike lanes on PennDOT maintained roads. mentioned my preference for mandatory drivers ed for people with more than 3 moving violations.

until is it more inconvenient and expensive to break the laws than follow them, we might as well not have them.

LoL. I basically said as much and copied to share:

The Commonwealth should require continuing education of existing and new laws for license renewal. Just as the newly established continuing education requirements for engineers, the Commonwealth doesn’t need to administer the courses – the insurance companies could do it? – but the Commonwealth could review and approve courses. Makes it easier for us law-abiding cyclists.

I did the same and shared it to my Facebook wall. Thanks for posting.

I’d be happy if PADOT just stopped milling rumble strips on perfectly good shoulders.

^^^What Lyle said.

I discovered this weekend that Rte 136 from Monongahela to Washington is way less fun when the reasonably good shoulder has been cut off by rumble strips.

My response:

The barrier to receive a license is far too low. Answering 15 of 18 questions followed by a short drive is a joke. I believe the easiest way to improve road safety is to raise the barrier to entry. Require 25 of 28 questions correct, administer a thorough oral examination, and don’t give out more than three chances. That’s hardly any work for anyone involved, will reduce congestion, and will improve safety.
