Well, that was a poorly attended round!

Maybe it was the change in the weather.

By my calculations, we had only 5 participants (other than the original tagsetters).

Tag 1: We shall overcome: Pinky and Swalfoort
Tag 2: Volunteer: RustyRed, SRPIT and Stu

Spinning the wheel, the next tagsetters are Pinky and RustyRed.

Second person to identify their target also sets the end of the round (date and time).

Most likely, I haven’t spent a lot of time on my bike during this round. Part of that is weather and part of that is traveling (in my case).

Some of it, I’m sorry to say, is decreased use of the message board in general. In a brief appearance at volunteer night at BP HQ, I mentioned that I had just (minutes before) picked up the Tag-o-Rama tag, and a bunch of people said they just didn’t play the game anymore as they just weren’t on the board very often. If they’re not playing ToR, they’re even less likely to play WoF.

I think we’re still suffering from the board’s rebuild last winter, when several long time accounts were lost.

Tag #2: Comfort food

It’s been cold and/or damp. My head hurts. It’s almost lunchtime. Show me where to get some good comfort food.

Tag #2: Comfort food

Here’s the Chateau Cafe and Cakery.

Sweets for those who wish to find comfort for their sweet tooth, and savory sammiches for those who have a salt tooth.

I’m heading down there for lunch later today for a cheese and pickle panini. I have to avoid the sweets unless I want my blood sugar to plummet and get a wicked case of the ‘sweaty-sugar-shakes’.

Post visit review: I grew up making myself cheese and pickle sandwiches. Somehow, I just discovered that I liked them, no one ever turned me on to them and my family thought they were weird. They’d say “Don’t you want some meat on there?” Meat just ruins the salty, vinegary, crunchy, cheesy-goeyness of the cheese and pickle combo. Today, for the first time in my adult life…I found a restaurant that has them on the menu. It was delicious, and frankly an improvement on my toasted white bread/white American/dill selections. They used whole wheat and cheddar and grilled them Panini style. Sweet jebus, that hit the spot.
I come to find out that cheese and pickle sandwiches are a ‘quintessential British sandwich’ How about that?

I used to eat these all the time as a kid – both grilled and just cold with mayo. As an adult I usually swap out the pickle for some hot pepper rings and fancy cheese. Bon appetit!

Tag #1: Art Deco. Salt of the Earth restaurant. To be honest, I am not certain that this is Art Deco. Even if it is not, I do like the door

Tag #2: Comfort food. Spak Brothers Pizza!

It’s a new year, it’s finally starting to look a bit like spring, so let’s brush the dust off this thread, shall we?

The current tags are #1 Art Deco, set by RustyRed, and #2 Comfort food, set by Pinky. Let’s give this two full weekends to collect and post, and say 23:59 on Sunday, April 6.

Don’t count too much on me taking part. Due to work changes, my biking life is about to go right down the shitter. For the most part, I’m going to be forced to join the idiots on the parkways.

@edmonds. Just remember to keep the folding bike in the trunk for those “I gotta get outa here” lunches.

Cool. This might inspire me to get the bike out – finally!

I’ll play… Japanese grocery store (Arlington Heights, IL) filled with goodness (comfort food)

art-deco… the initial plan was to stop by the nearby F.L.Wright museum but ended up grabbing something easier to get to.
Gallagher building (commercial insurance, not the watermelon guy, sadly) Itasca, IL.

Bikefest is almost here, so let’s try Thread Dust-Off, Take 2.

The current tags are #1 Art Deco, set by RustyRed, and #2 Comfort food, set by Pinky. Let’s just tie it off right here with what we have, and start another round, shall we? In fact, since the last round was last year and itself had very few participants, let’s pool that and this one together. Ten entries, six participants.

Tag 1: We shall overcome: Pinky and Swalfoort
Tag 2: Volunteer: RustyRed, SRPIT and Stu
Tag 3: Art Deco: Stu, Drewbacca
Tag 4: Comfort food: RustyRed, Stu, Drewbacca

Rolling the random.org dice, I get 4 and 2, so Srpit and Swalfoort get to pick the next two tags, and the second to post should choose the end time, say two weeks from 23:59 of that day.

Ok, I am in…….

I will have a post up tonight. If you want an early start, the tag will be: allergans, personal or known. Find something that you are allergic to, or know someone is allergic too, and post a photo of that. My photo will be loaded later today. This tag sponsored by ragweed……..

P.S. I think two weeks is too long in the summer. Let’s make it one week through the end of September. It’s not like adding the second week is generating new participants.

Or, we need to start permitting multiple entries for each tag. Otherwise, I get a tag, maybe get the next one a couple of days later, and then have nothing to look for over the next 10 days.

What’s do you think, folks?

SRPIT sets the other tag for this round. We should let them know of the decision on timing.

Yay! I will try to be better about being responsive. I do love this game.

Should we set some guidelines for who is responsible for spinning the wheel? That’s where we’ve fallen down before – when the tag closes out and someone (like me) forgets to spin the wheel.

Woo Hoo! I missed this too. Thought everyone had given up on it. One week seems like plenty of time to me too.

OK – Hmmm… How about Fluffy?

This round will close at midnight on Monday the 11th (unless further discussion seeks to change that).

Also, when I click on the last post it still takes me to page one. Should we start a new thread instead of letting this one get really long again?

I had not noticed the not-forwarding-to-page-41 problem until just now, but having seen it, I now see it every time. Maybe it’s coincidence, maybe not, but this is the same spot where the first Tag-o-Rama thread broke. I suggest we try to make it through this round, and prepare to jump to a new one if it proves troublesome.

Allergens and fluffy things. Closing at 23:59 on M8/11.

Tag #2: Allergen. Poison ivy *right* along my favorite path through the woods. (It’s spread considerably since the time when @srpit went through here!)

And Tag #1, just a few yards away on the other side of the stream, we have Joe-Pye weed, a native wildflower with a fluffy blossom. And yes, the grasses and other plants are taller than my handlebars along here!

The tag pic is poor. Here’s a different shot, minus the bike (which I am astride), from a couple days ago, in almost the same spot. You can also get a better idea just how tall the grass is here! (I won’t call them weeds, even though Joe-Pye weed is called a weed by name.)

I’m sparing everyone the detailed angle here, but I had a bad run-in with poison ivy this week. Let’s just say my wrist looks, well, awful.

Fluffy:

Well, she’s not the fluffiest dog around, but all dogs have some fluff. Even this one (who happens to not really like bikes):

Time’s up. With a whopping four participants, I opted to not include myself for the spin. Stu & RustyRed are the setters if we decide to try to breath life back into this.

I was going to set it up on a new thread, but wanted to see if there was going to be enough interest to keep playing. What would you all like to do?

StuInMcCandless
Participant

I think keep going, but start a new thread. This broken-at-page-41 thing is a real pain.

I’d include @sarapgh2 in the results for this round, since her picture of the “fluffy” chicken has its own thread.

I still love this game since I’m not fast enough for Tagorama. That said, I understand if it’s retired.

The hardest thing for me is remembering to spin the wheel again or check back in to see if I need to set the tag.
