Bikeygirl’s preemptive “crickets” trolling had me back on the bike for my lunch break… :-)

New tag:

If you enhance this pic you can see this tag’s namesake.
Or start singing:
“With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings…”

Just an fyi to all players…

For the benefit of prospective new players (and long-time players), I’ve adjusted/edited 2 of the help links in the rules of the game. The 2 links were going to an old page which gave instructions on how to post photos.

Since the web make-over, those old instructions have gotten somewhat obsolete. You can still post using the old method, but faster and easier ways are now found on the thread I made called “How to Post Photos 2.”

If anyone wants to add more tips or info to the thread, feel free.

Thanks TD! And I can always update the first post in this thread if need be.

I rescind my earlier comment: it appears posts can only be edited for a short time after they are submitted.

You have an hour to fix a post. Moderators (such as TD) can modify old posts.

Yeah, I know. But I’m clueless.

I’ll pick up this tag tonight on the way home if no one else has (just in case Ahlir’s ambiguous post was a request for another clue). I’ve figured it out.

Them’s kitin’ words Jon…

Kite Hill Park, Garfield.

And from the back…

I thought I had waited long enough for ice to start melting. But no.
The sound of spinning tires does concentrate the mind.

I’m tempted to say
this is a self-clueing tag

But, hey
I should add:

early-dark day
=
tag-on-a-bikeway

(To the tune of “You’ve got a friend”):
When your heading down,
To Greenfield,
And you want a shorter path,
And you just don’t feel like dealing with traffic yet again.
Pump your legs together,
And head on over this way,
Even though you have to ride past some lonely old gay men.
You just ride through the woods,
And you know, hop over some trees,
And you’ll be there, on the bikeway.

On top of Pocussett,
All covered with leaves
I lost my poor chainring,
When somebody sneezed

Next Tag:

Just now it’s a pain
To bike up from the west
So I came down from the north
And now I’m face to the south

It was almost dinner
Yet goulash aromas
Were not in the air
Hard to explain
But actually not

Fixing the doggerel. Less clueful but it scans better, I think.

Maybe another clue?

Ahlir

Maybe.
This is a different crop that might provide more information. A couple of hints:

The hills in the background might be familiar, they overlook a popular trail. And, yes, a river runs through there.

This neighborhood is in between rail lines. One beyond the houses and another behind me. Actually I’d say it’s more like surrounded on all four sides if you include some industrial land.

I’ve definitely been by this place before, but I just cannot remember where it is! I feel like someone should get it soon with all these clues….

Ah, that helps. Now, to find an extra half hour in the morning to get over that way. Note: I don’t actually *know* but I now have a pretty good hunch where to look.

Sadly, I know were this is, but no time to grab it :/

To the tune of “Fire and Rain”:
I’ve rode forward and I’ve rode back,
I’ve rode curvy roads that I thought would never end,
I’ve been where that road almost touched itself,
But I always knew that I would come home again.

Ahlir

hmm. I’m not totally sure about this one, given the lighting differences. Also I appear to be at a spot that’s maybe a good metre downhill from the tag (given how the bikes and blocks line up).

Corner of Forward and Shady.

Nope. You’re in the neighborhood, though.

Ahlir

sigh.
I may have blown my time budget on that one.
In any case, I was hoping to avoid the other interpretation…

Yay!
The glass blocks are filled with the pop-off tabs from aluminum cans, representing people who were discarded in the same way.

Wow I didnt know that memorial even existed. Is it new?

Wow. I didn’t know this existed.

jonawebb

It’s fairly new. Built within the last year.
The 6 million (!) tabs were collected by students:

The walls are in the shape of a Star of David but give you a strange feeling inside, like being trapped in a labyrinth.

Ahhh, bruced, left too late. I had been wanting to tag this location too. With campV

I, too, didn’t know this existed. Gonnahafta get over that way and check that out! Thanks, Jon, for the interesting tag.

Second P-G article on it

It’s quite new, dedicated within the last month. And come to think of it, I did know about it, as Elena Hiatt Houlihan, the artist mentioned in the article, came to my Toastmasters group meeting a few weeks ago around the time of the dedication to talk about it.

Cool! (or, uh, freezing…)

Did you stop in and get some turkey ribs? They were on sale.

Ah well, I missed the turkey opportunity, too busy trying to stay warm.

I’ve tagged one of the other 4 of these pieces of street art – they deserve another place in the game. Tagged with LindaP.
