Hmm. That’s really interesting. Is their theory that more harm comes from extending hands and arms to break a fall?

Went to see Obama speak at Peterson in Oakland the day before the PA primary. Only clear bags were allowed into the event, and I knew I would be standing in line for hours, so I brought a thick LSAT prep book with me in a plastic bag.

On my way home, I turned onto Forbes in front of the O, stupidly holding the bag/book on the end of my handlebars. The force of turning made the bag start oscillating, and the book started banging hard against my spokes. I literally started saying “Oh sh–” when the book suddenly got lodged in my spokes, sending me right over the handlebars.

Here is my personal Bike Superman moment: There was a bus DIRECTLY behind me at this point. I somehow unclipped unconsciously as I was flying through the air, grabbed my bike, and rolled onto the sidewalk with it just before the bus hit me. It was kind of like being in an action movie.

There were probably 20 people waiting for the bus on the wall…pretty mortifying.
