One reason might be that since bikes aren’t licensed in most places, there’s no easy way to enforce any meter law. If you didn’t put money in a hypothetical bike parking meter, they couldn’t mail you a ticket, or take away your bike license.

Plus, if you go by space, bikes are a lot smaller, and if cars pay $0.25, a bike would pay, what, $0.03? The city would never make back the cost of the meters and collection.
