Where do I find trails?

I'm new to the area (I'm from Kentucky), only up here to hang out with my girlfriend, but while she's at work I want to hit the trails. Anyone know a good resource for finding trails/information and how to get to them?

Rail Trails, or off road trails. The PORC website will lead you to the off road trails. The SPC website (www.spcregion.org) will giveyou county by county maps showing the rail trails in each county. You can then get specific information from the individual trail websites as far as distance between trailheads, etc. It's a good starting point.

P.S. Welcome to the 'burgh.

Thanks for the website they worked great however just having a hard time finding them. They don't exactly give you directions and being new to the area I don't know what the closest park is. I'm trying to find them on google maps.

Yep, spent 6 years in Louisville. Probably rode in Cherokee 4 days a week (on and off road).

Where are you staying? Frick is the city park (kinda like Cherokee). Riverview is probably the next closest to the city. After that South Park (to the south) and Hartwood to the north.

I'm staying in Penn Hills. I road mostly otter creek trail and Briar Hill Trail in Kentucky. I'm still kind of an amateur, so the real technical trails are a pretty big challenge to me still and Briar hill is a pretty strong one. I figured with all the hills out here there has to be some incredible trails to go along with them.

I never rode Briar Hills. Where is that? I love Otter Creek.

Boyce Park is probably the closest to you. Also, it's pretty flat and only mildly technical, so all in all it sounds like a good mix for you.

I've not ridden there in a year or more so I'm not sure where to tell you to park. Might be best to get in on a PORC ride.

Briar Hill is in Crestwood area off of 22. It's unfortunately one of those trials where you don't learn the complete trail unless you go with someone who knows it and miss out. lucky for me my first time out I found someone who knew the trail quite well. It's really an excellent trail with a really seriously uphill side wind path with creeks and rocks. Lot of fun but I've still not conquered it. I'm gonna be checking out the Boyce park tomorrow afternoon for sure.

BTW, Deer Lakes would also be a good one for you. Porc (PTAG?) is having a work day there this weekend.
