In order to change culture, we need to work to institutionalize our vision into the laws, policies, and inner-workings of our decision-makers. From Complete Streets to bike parking policies, we have been doing just that.
Transportation is complex, and very few people only use one form of it. Being able to seamlessly transition between a bicycle and our transit service makes for a more bike and transit friendly city. We’ve been working with the Port Authority to make biking more friendly both on transit, and on the road.
Companies are rapidly setting up shop in Pittsburgh to develop and test Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) and are using Pittsburgh’s public streets as a testbed. We are at an important moment in terms of how this technology interacts with pedestrians and bicyclists and how it will change the public realm. Ultimately it’s up to all of us to decide what kind of city we want to live in.
