Breaking Barriers!

We understand that there can be many factors that would stop someone from wanting to participate in a bicycling class. Our format makes classes as inclusive as possible, including but not limited to:

  •  2 instructors to every 15 students to give the most quality and hands-on learning experience possible.
  • Access to free POGOH bike shares for those who need a bike to learn on
  • Access to helmets (if notified ahead of time)
  • A nationally certified curriculum built to bring knowledge to learners of all skills and ages.
  • Access to other educational materials (our bike map, 101 cycling guide, crash cards, and more.)

The Goal

As Pittsburgh’s infrastructure continues to grow and change BikePgh aims to provide educational resources to its residents so that people are more confident in their ability to commute by bike.

We believe that educating people on how to safely utilize infrastructure will increase their ability to safely get where they need to go by bike.

Our goal is to get more people on bikes and to change the perspective of biking in the city. Biking is not just for kids. It’s not just for people who can’t afford a car. It’s not just for people who have several thousand-dollar bikes. It’s not just for athletes.

Biking is for everyone no matter their age, gender, ethnicity, wage, or ability. A bike is a vehicle for healthy transportation and independence that all people should have access to and be confident in using.
