About the Program

BikePGH’s Women and Non-Binary Program is inclusive towards Femme / Womyn / Gender Non-Conforming / Non-binary people of all ages and backgrounds. The program works to encourage this identified group of people to incorporate bicycling into their lives and increase their representation. By opening the discussion about our lived experiences and challenges, we can assess how to better provide support and resources to ride bikes in Pittsburgh.

Programming consists of monthly coffee meetups, bike rides, workshops and classes, and an annual forum. The program was founded in 2012 with the making of a zine, soon featured its first Forum in 2013, and has since grown to provide year-round offerings. You may know programming by its former name “The Spinnsters” as well, a fun play on spinning wheels and a reclamation of the outdated word “spinster”.

The Women & Non-Binary Program is operated by BikePGH’s Education Program Manager, Julie Mallis, and supported by many volunteers and community members. Julie can be reached at julie@bikepgh.org or 412-325-4334.
