State police are searching for a driver who struck a bicyclist, severely injuring him, in a hit-and-run incident in Armstrong County early Friday. According to police, Brian Edward Weiland, 46, of Fennelton, Butler County, was riding his bicycle south on Freeport Road in South Buffalo around 6:30 a.m. when he was hit from behind by a southbound vehicle. Mr. Weiland suffered a "severe" cut in his neck and was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital, police said. His condition has not been released. Police said the vehicle that hit him continued down the road.
