Park(ing) day 2015 Ride - Friday Sept 18

Park(ing) day is this coming Friday the 18th and I am planning to put a bike ride together to visit all of the spots. I will work on a route as soon as I get the list. The tentative start time is 10am with the location TBD depending on the layout of the spots. Hope to see you there! https://www.facebook.com/ParkingDayPGH

I'll try to post the route tomorrow, but the tentative plan is to meet at Dippy at 10am, then we'll go counter-clockwise to E Lib, Bloomfield, LVille, Strip, Downtown, S Side. https://pghparkingday.wordpress.com/ PS: one thing I'm conflicted about is the spot up on Grandview. I want to hit all the spots but I also want this to be a low-key ride, and I really don't know how to get up there, especially while keeping with the "low key" part. Anyone have any bright ideas?

@Salty for going up to the Grandview spot, you can take the Liberty Bridge sidewalk at Boulevard of the Allies, cross the bridge on it and then go up the McArdle sidewalk. Going down can be through the same route or down Sycamore. There's a somewhat recent thread on how to go up to that area. To make it even more low-key, go up on the Duquesne Incline (The Mon Incline is closed). Descend on aforementioned routes or on the Incline

Especially with the Mon Incline out of service. How many bikes can fit on the Duquesne Incline in a single ride?

BikePgh page says 2 bikes on the Duq, 1 on the Mon. I thought about that but it doesn't seem like a viable way to get a group up there. I think I'll pause in Market Sq. and poll the group to see what people want to do. At that point there will only be 3 spots left (Mt. Washington, and Thick + Commonwealth on the S. Side), so we could also split the group. Some of the spots have evening hours only, which I don't recall in the past... but it's only a few.

I can't ride, but I did take a brief walk around the few spots along Forbes between Grant and Smithfield. Talked to some folks, shared a few ideas. It's a great way to get informed and make suggestions to people who can actually do something with the idea.

Thanks for organizing salty! It was a glorious day for a bike ride around the city with friends.

Agreed! Thanks for arranging things, Salty! Even though a surprising percentage of spots were 'missing', I had a great time.

It was a lot of fun, thanks for coming out to ride with me. Note to future self - next year we will start downtown or at least get there earlier since that looks like where most of the action was. BTW, I did wave at the flock ride from the 54c and then went to the "under construction" CMU spot on Craig on my way home. It was pretty cool when it was done - it was a full structure with a roof, all covered in plants.
