Warning: Junction Hollow Trail!

Some [redacted] evidently pushed a giant boulder onto the trail with his/her vehicle. This could be a nightmare for someone riding through there after dark. I tried to move it myself with no luck. I've have 311'd it. Apologies if this is old news!

Anyone wants to join effort in attempt to move it? I'll be there in 30 minutes.

Don't hurt yourself if it's just you; I will try to swing by tomorrow with a truck and a tow strap and pull it out of the way. EDIT: If someone moves this please update this thread so I don't waste my time running down there tomorrow.

Yeah, I couldn't budge it even a millimeter. A prybar and something to use as a fulcrum might be helpful.

By the time I got there it has been moved to the grass.

Joanne, multi-mega-kudos on reporting it. (Can I ask the larger group, do yinz tweet such things to @PghTrails?)

At least someone was on the ball to clear it out -- I went riding there this afternoon, didn't even realize that this had been a problem until seeing this just now.

The North Shore bike trail has a few things like this from the Casino to Bicycle Heaven,no lights or reflectors on bolders to block cars from coming in on the trail, many have got hurt I have been told and cant belive no law suit. And two gates with little room to ride through ,very very very dangerous, I cant belive it has never been changed.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,has anyone other think the same on the part of the trail,,,,I think they need taken away ?

saw this on my way into town in the morning. the car was still resting somewhat on top of the overturned stone when we went through. there was a woman on the phone standing in the open car door, so i assumed it was being reported. i don't think she could move the car. it looked like a the-brake-instead-of-the-gas kind of scenario. the rock was pushed back when i came through on the way home. i'm glad some thought to announce it here!

So someone "accidentally" pushed this boulder 15 feet with their car? I would almost be happier if it was intentional vandalism. That falls squarely into the category of "Should not be allowed to operate a vehicle".

Considering how often I see folks driving cars on the trail who are lost or driving around in the casino employees' lot, they're needed. I know of one jersey that has a reflector on it, but I'm not sure about the others. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to tell someone who's 'stuck' at one of the barriers how to get back onto the road. "My GPS told me to turn here."

You should tell those guys: "My GPS told me to take a picture of your license plate and report it to police!" :)

ok ,see your point but I think they don't give you much room and I think they could be moved over to one side a bit . I know for certain a few got hurt one very bad . I will get some reflectors togather and glue them on with some brite paint,,i think that will help,,,,take care u all

Some reflective tape would definitely do those barriers a lot of good. If you had any sort of headlight (like you're supposed to anyway if you're riding at night), then you can't say you didn't see them. As it is, they are rather hard to see in dim or dark conditions.

I have a rather blazing light, so I'm not likely to get caught unaware. But I do absolutely agree on the prior point, the gates on the trail and how little space is left around them is pretty extreme, an impediment not just to motor vehicle traffic, but also to some bicycle traffic. Someone not confident with tight maneuvers would do well to walk their bikes around these. I also personally witnessed a kid failing that navigation and going down (he was probably 7 or 8, had slowed to basically walking speed thankfully and didn't go down hard at all). But he wasn't a wobbly rider, he seemed in fact a pretty good rider for his age, it's just too tight a pinch. The stupidity of it does make me angry.
